Got this email update from Ben this morning and thought I should share/post it.
"She was in a wonderful mood all the way to daycare…..had to run in and give Theresa a hug (after getting an open mouth kiss
from Benji-Boo) However, on the way she was giving Honey the business. Some
quotes for you:
“We don’t do that, that’s not how nice girls act.”
“You are
going to listen to me or you are getting a time out”
“I am going to count,
1-2-3-4-5. Now you listen like a nice girl or you need a time out”
Very good
stuff J
We've been talking about working on something that would be positive reinforcement for good behaviors. Though we always praise her verbally, we are thinking we need to give her something more solid so that we can really re-affirm that portion of her behavior. She is only two years old, but she's definitely taking in and processing a lot more than we expected at this age! I will probably try to make some sort of sticker board and see if we can work with that a bit...
Additionally, after the dust settles from Baby Brother's arrival, we'll need to buckle down on potty training. She holds it, so really she just needs to learn to release it properly - I think she realizes only after she's letting it go.. But pooping is another story, she totally goes to a corner (behind the chair mostly) and comes out typically telling us that she needs her diaper changed. That's our girl right now! ;-)
Update from the end of the day today - Olivia put on a pair of shoes ALL BY HERSELF. She was very proud, Mom was too. But Mom is a little worried if this won't delay getting out of the house even more... just like it took an extra 10 minutes to get into the bath because she insisted taking off her shirt by herself, which isn't always that easy :(
