Lincoln recently turned seven months old.
At seven months old, he hits most of the standard milestones - turns his head to watch people enter/leave the room, sits up with some assistance, reaches for toys, and passes toys from one hand to another.
He loves his jump-a-jump still - sometimes, he seems to enjoy it so much he wants to fall asleep in it... and he likes to be in his high chair in the kitchen too, as long as his sister is around and bringing him toys. Lincoln also really enjoys standing - so if he's on your lap, your biceps better be ready for some jumping - stand/sit, stand/sit. Ben told me he was walking around 10 months, that really weirds me out - and I hope Lincoln isn't walking that soon! He has to work on rolling over first ;-)
He started solid foods - and so far, he seems to really enjoy everything he's tried; with the exception of puffs - they gagged him a little bit - oh, and when I tried to give him some food processed honeydew. I should have pureed it, then he might have liked it better, but he got gaggy when I gave him it. He has tried the following: green beans, peas, sweet potatoes, peaches, pears, squash, and carrots. He likes rice cereal and wheat cereal. And, like with his bottle, he is very temperature sensitive, so it has to be warm... We think once he gets a few more teeth he will be very interested in eating real table food, because he really goes after the spoon!
Speaking of teeth, he has two bottom teeth - the bottom right showed up first, right after his six month birthday, and the left came just shortly after. We think he is working on the top, and doctor confirmed they seemed a little puffy...
We had that 'scare' with the measles, which wasn't (as we had suspected). Our doctor apologized for the fiasco we had regarding information and quarantining, etc., from the urgent care. I appreciated her apology, as that was a frustrating week! So, we know he had a reaction to amoxicillin, but he isn't necessarily allergic. He was on that amoxicillin for an ear infection, and fortunately the zytrhomycin did clear the ear infection up! So, though we know it is unrealistic to think he won't have another one, we are very glad to not be on the same pattern Olivia had (again, she had her first set of tubes in at this age!)
He's still very vocal... he frequently has to scream himself to sleep. Not sure why, but he does it..
He seems to enjoy life a lot more when there are many faces around and noise/music, etc. As you can imagine, he does well at daycare, but might get a little bored with us at home.
He is quite flirty and very social - he gives very big grins to everyone, but definitely wants mom or dad there - stranger danger did come into affect. He enjoys patty-cakes, but needs help to do it.
He LOVES big sister, she can make him smile the most, and he loves watching her zoom around the room in and out. He likes to bang loud things together, as many babies do, but he does it with command!
He does very well at the doctor's office still. Olivia hated being on the doctor's table or having her ears looked at or, well, anything at the doctor's office, but Lincoln doesn't barely get concerned. He had his shots, and didn't cry too much for them, but slept the afternoon completely. And hasn't had the greatest nights since then (this was on Tuesday morning), so... we're hoping the effect ends soon! He isn't sleeping through the night, but outside of these last few
nights, he does well nursing at about 11 and then again at 5; sometimes
one time in there, but let's be honest, nobody is waking up for any of
it, so it's pretty easy... he does go to sleep in his crib most nights,
but about the time mom and dad are just falling asleep is when he wakes
up to nurse!
Another comparison to Olivia's baby temperament is in relation to how well he does getting his diaper changed on one of those baby stations - Olivia would scream and carry on and just fight while I changed her on those, but Lincoln is just along for the ride on it - so that's helpful!
He is quite a large boy - solid, if you will... following the growth curve path he set forth on when born so large; you even had a woman come up to us at our recent trip to the Omaha Zoo to compliment your juicy thighs ("I just have to say these are some gorgeous thighs, I just want to eat them up.. you are so sweet and lovable, I could just steal you" - she was sweet and lovely in her accosting us, otherwise, that could have been a scary one for your mother Lincoln!!).
Lincoln, you are certainly a challenge, and sometimes your crying can be very wearing on Mom especially, but there is no doubt that you are absolutely amazing - and you ARE LOVED, and we are all (sister included) enjoying watching you grow up...
