Like most babies, Olivia has really come into action over the last month - coming into six months of age. We absolutely love seeing her change, grow and develop every day. It's true that they change with the blink of your eyes. I was gone for 5 days, and I felt like she was an entirely different baby when I returned. It took a couple days to get back into rhythm when I returned - both her and I were out of sorts. Of course, Dad did an EXCELLENT job of taking care of Olivia while I was gone, but I was relieved that they both missed me and wanted me to get home! It was a good trial for my future work trip, but going forward, I know that I don't want to leave her for a while, unless absolutely necessary…
Health (Or not so healthy as it's been…):
Olivia has had a really tough month! She's had a fever for most of it, because the poor thing has just been sick off and on... She has had two ear infections (one of them was 'really bad' when we got her to the doctor). And she had pneumonia over my birthday weekend. She cut her teeth right alongside her illnesses - how awful?!! She is such a good baby that you don't even know she is sick by day, it is only at night that we know something is wrong, because she wakes up and is pretty much inconsolable.

She is on her third ear infection as of today, so we are going the 'aggressive route' and giving her the three day antibiotic shots. Let's pray that this takes her pain away for good!
Exploring:
When our Christmas stuff was up, Olivia loved looking at the lights and feeling the Christmas tree branches.
Olivia thumbs EVERYTHING. We aren't sure why she does it or what it means, but it is really cute, she just puts her thumb on things as she starts to explore it.
As each day goes by this last month, Olivia has been more and more interested in food and drinks. She's learning to drink out of a cup, but it pretty much seems like she is a little puppy slurping it up… And she generally bites our plates when we are eating with her on our lap. The other night she got her hand in to my chicken - of course she just let it go after because she didn't truly know what to do with it. We are looking forward to giving her solids this month, hopefully she is ready for them!
Six months brought an entirely new scope of toys. Toys toys toys yay! She loves them! And we like going through almost all of them each evening.
Olivia doesn't like to lounge anymore, she pulls her head up when she is in her car seat, or when she is laying on her lounger - so we pretty much sit up all the time now!
Olivia found her feet, and she LOVES them. She likes to stick as much of them as possible in her mouth, especially during bath time. When her feet have socks on them, she doesn't realize she can put them in her mouth, but she does like holding onto the socks.
Milestones & Socializing:
Olivia has two teeth! Both her bottom teeth came in! The first one on 4 January (alongside her second ear infection) And the second one showed up on my birthday, alongside her pneumonia, on the 14th of January!
Olivia can sit up on her own pretty much unassisted, she's been doing it since the last week of December - working on perfecting it each and every day. She really enjoys sitting on our legs and then trying to stand up. It's a new trick she developed in the last week or two…
She is babbling and giggling and cooing and shrieking (in a good way).. She especially loves to talk when she is in her jumpa-jump. She has a really good command of her m's, and most of the time it sounds like momomomom… definitely makes my heart melt - can't wait until she knows what she is saying!
Olivia loves dad acting like a grizzly and coming and grabbing at her clothes and pretending to eat them up. It seems that if Olivia would be in a grizzly attack , she wouldn't realize she was in any danger. She'd be loving it up. Hah!
Olivia
Probably one of my favorite things about Olivia's social change is her reaction to children. If she is awake and she sees a child she gets super excited - throwing her hands up or down and grinning and flirting… it is absolutely adorable. The first time I really noticed it was when I took her down to communion and at each pew row with new children she just got very thrilled each time we got to a new row with children.
She is such a great girl… and we just can't wait to see her continue to grow and develop.
