She has four teeth on the top, she got her top right "SNAGGLE" tooth as her third tooth (after her bottom two) and then shortly after we started to see the left snaggle come in and then following almost immediately after were her two front teeth. We are a little concerned with how big the right snaggle tooth looks right now (hence the term SNAGGLE), but we're sure it will be fine once the others come down and line up… if not, at least they are her first set of teeth! ;-)
She's been sick a lot of her 9th month of life (what's new?!). We thought we were past those pesky ear infections, but we definitely weren't. Her last infection was so bad in her right ear that she had blood in it when we woke up on the morning of the 14th - took her to the Dr and she called the specialist in Sioux Falls (who did the tubes) and he said it was 'normal'. Really? Normal? Agh…. And unfortunately the week before that morning she had an ear infection in the other ear… it just doesn't end for her - poor baby and poor mom and dad! What's worse is that she had a stomach/flu bug the weeks prior to that, it was a long bug - probably about 10 days where she didn't feel well, leading up to my trip to Turkey. We can only hope this is making her a tough little girl - ready to fight anything else in life!
She is now eating table food a bit at a time. We are slowly introducing things. She really likes cottage cheese - though at the beginning of the month we gagged with large curd, she now uses those chompers to gum up the large curd cottage cheese. And while Mom's feeding her, she also gets to enjoy a little bit of 4% cottage cheese. YUMMY! (that's what her mother says every time she eats something new) She's had ground beef and ham (with pineapple together!). She tried beef and beans for the first time at my mother's house for Adam's birthday supper. She liked them! I don't think there is anything that she doesn’t like right now :)
Olivia can stand up against things, last weekend we got her a little kitchen we picked up at a sale for a couple dollars, and she LOVES to stand at it - she thinks she is 'big business'. We realized our furniture is all a little tall for her - our couches AND our coffee tables - so this kitchen is a good way to get her some comfortable standing. She balances pretty well, and of course, gets better by the day. She has gotten a little fussy with bath time this last week or so, we think it might be too confining - she is too busy for a sit down bath - come on mom/dad!! She's doing a great job with crawling, and a surprisingly good job with not getting into too much trouble - though, she still isn't to be trusted out of site! She likes computers, computer cords, remote controls, and mobile phones - mom and dads toys!
Olivia has become very chatty this last month. She has a lot to tell Mom and Dad about, especially when she isn't feeling sick. She likes to blab and tell stories a lot…. Last Sunday, Olivia apparently realized that her voice is very different within the large area of church - she absolutely loved being squealy and loud and showing off. She also got pretty feisty towards the end, because mom wasn't letting her do what she wanted! Guess it's a snapshot of what may be to come - terrible twos anyone? :-)
Going to sleep… has been a challenge at the end of this month… with her ear infections, we became reliant on the swing for going to sleep and staying asleep. It was all we could do to keep her asleep, and even then she sometimes struggled! This last week we've been working towards sleeping in the crib once again. Now that she's mobile and can get on her knees and pull herself up, she spent quite a few nights showing us (via video monitor) how good she is at carrying on! It was kind of cute and kind of sad to watch her. At least at this age, we feel that unless she is screaming at the top of her lungs, which she did do some of, we really need to just let her figure out getting herself back to sleep without being reliant on the swing or others… The last few nights have been good, so hopefully we're back on track, which I guess means we are gearing up for another ear infection (as that's been our track record!).
She's lots of fun, and we can't wait to continue to watch her grow and change! Oh, and she is just right at 20lbs right now, but we don't know her height. TALL!
Video of our nightvision monitor on one of those really exciting nights!
We didn't get 9 month photos taken, and we took a stab at them this month, which didn't go wonderfully, but we got a couple good shots, so that might be do officially for a while. She doesn't want to hold still! ;-)
