Over this last month, our little Olivia has changed way too much! I am guessing this will be the way I will feel for the rest of her life, but it is still taking some getting used to! Olivia's last weight check was on Sept 24 and she weighed in at 12 lbs 3 oz. So, by our guestimates she is about 13.5lbs now. Her length was 24". We guess she is about 25" at least right now...
For a little while, I was worried that Olivia was teething - because her urine smelled very strong of ammonia and she was getting all bubbly at the mouth.. Another mom told me she thought she was teething. Thank god that hasn't been the truth!
Olivia developed a wrist roll this month, which I think is super duper cute.. And can't get over it's presence - every day I like to look at it! Over the last month, and especially within the last two weeks Olivia has perfected thumb sucking. She is more active with her hands in general - she likes to help hold a bottle and she likes to wrap her fingers around my fingers while she nurses. It's very adorable! She isn't big into holding onto rattles, etc., but she will do it. She also plays with her own hands.. Within the last few weeks she has really started to open and close them and grab onto one or the other hand.. She also grabs at her own clothing and pulls the fabric. Though she hasn't 'discovered' them with her eyes just yet… In the last week she has had her hands less fisted on a regular basis. And just in the last few days, we've noticed that she has begun to bat at things - her stomach, my chest, dad's face… whatever is in the way of that arm, look out! This morning she even got a hold of my glasses while nursing - that was a first!
Olivia is quite the conversationalist. She goes on and on and on at times… sometimes she babbles nicely - cheery and smiling, sometime she babbles with an attitude - sounding a little defiant or maybe she is 'telling it like it is'. Overall, we feel she is quite talkative and enjoy visiting with her regularly. The first day she went to daycare (4 Oct), she spent about 20 minutes with me just jabberjawing without me having to prod her for more info - she apparently had a LOT to tell me about her first day at Daycare!!
She is sleeping well at night. She goes down anytime between 7:30 and 8:30p and sleeps until about 3:30am, when she wants a little snack. Then if she hasn't woke me up before 6:30am, I wake her and let her have her start the day feeding… Now if her mother could just learn to fall back asleep again easily that would be perfect! Sometimes she wakes up with big smiles, this is always a treat! And typically, she really enjoys getting out of her pajamas, into a fresh diaper and her clothes for the day! We usually sing songs and have lots of smiles on the changing table in the morning.
Olivia, you get more beautiful every day!!!! I must have a copy of your fall leaves pictures. love, Grandma Kiki/
